TONZON Thermocushion Makes floors warmer than conventional insulation
A cold zone is made visible by the blue
colour in this infrared photograph. The cold ground will suck the heat out of the ground floor, which will remain cold as a result. In the lower part of the room there is a cold, damp zone where feet and lower legs are seriously cooled and mould and house dust mites thrive. When single glazing is replaced by double glazing, the humidity in the lower part of the house will increase, where previously the single glazing would get misted inside. The cold zone and therefore the locally increased humidity, cannot be counteracted through additional ventilation.
If the house has floor heating, the system's reaction will be very slow due to the continuous cooling at the bottom, which means that people will usually leave the heating on. The floor of the crawl space is heated up unnecessarily. Resulting in a higher energy bill.

You could say that TONZON has made the thermos flask flexible. The excellent Thermocushions are placed in long strips below the floor and are filled with air. Within the framework of EPDB, the system already scores very well in the Netherlands with Rc=3.8 m2K/W. In addition, the special underside of the cushion also offers high resistance against permanent heat radiation to the cold ground and foundation walls, which will reduce the U-value. As a result of this Dutch invention, floors of existing houses are even warmer than the floors ofnewly built houses. TONZON floors heat up quicker and

TONZON Thermocushions work differently than insulating mats or panels. The cushions prevent theunderside of the floor to radiate heat to the cold crawl space floor and the foundation walls which are usually even colder. Now, the floor can only transfer its heat to the air above and below the floor. It will take little energy to heat up the thin air layer under the floor. This layer will become relatively warm, wants to rise but is already at its highest level. As a result, air layers will be created in the Thermocushions, similar to how a boiler works. At the top it is warm and further down it will slowly get colder. As the cushions are closed, the ventilation air cannot disturb these layers.The floor of the crawl space is covered with a strong foil which will stop moist and radon gas, but not the heat coming from the ground in winter.
TONZON thermal insulation is an environment friendly insulation technique, which gives you a higher insulation value in a smaller space. The underlying principle of this system is the high thermal resistance achieved by air cavities bounded by reflective surfaces. TONZON insulation products are made of a thin but resilient foil, covered on both sides with a reflective surface which is protected against oxidation. Reasearch shows: ecologically very sound
The use of energy and raw materials is extremely low and production is a clean process. This results in the insulation material with the lowest environmental burdon. The TONZON Thermocushion weighs only 60 g/m² but gives a floor U-value of 0,28 W/m²K (Rd-value of 3,80 m²K/W = 38 sq ft K/W). While the air required is enclosed at site, transporting volume is almost negligible. The car on the right contains an equivalent of more than 6 lorries with conventional insulation material. The material is friendly to use with bare hands (photo right) and does not give off any fibers, gasses or dust. TONZON thermal insulation is especially suitable for prefabricated buildings (e.g. portable buildings and saunas; roof, floor and wall elements) and in the renovation of existing structures when improving wall, roof or floor U-values cost effectively.
